Gin
March 1985. Senior year at Redwood High. Playing quarters at the Coulson house at Walt’s bar in the basement. We run out of beer. “Dude, let’s just play dimes with gin”. As so began a 20+ year hiatus on gin for me. About 5 years ago, I decided I was missing out. I opted to muscle my way back in to this fragrant spirit. It only took three nights. And now I’m back. Gin is the ultimate summer spirit. Drink it on the rocks with a twist. Or with tonic and lime. Not only does it taste amazing, but it gets the job done.
Admittedly, I’m a dry gin guy…so you won’t see Hendrick’s on my list. But there are some gins worth trying:
- Plymouth
- The Botanist
- Drumshanbo Gunpowder
- Bertha’s Revenge
- St. George Dry Rye Gin
- St. George Terrior
- St. George Botanivore
- Nikka Coffey Gin
- Dorothy Parker
- Brooklyn Gin
- Martin Miller’s
- Beefeater 24
- Anchor Genevieve
- Monkey 47
